Kay FulcherKay Fulcher -
Theological Education

Location: Solomon Islands

I became a Christian in 1986. The process of becoming a Christian followed a period of fifteen years during which I had not given God a thought. However, when diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy and traumatized by the doctors graphic explanation of proposed treatment, I prayed for the first time in many years. I remembered the Lord 's Prayer and also prayed for God to save my baby.
Prior to the scheduled procedure, I had a vision of a baby girl coming out of my abdomen and I believed that God had answered my prayer.
When I returned to work I found myself in a classroom with a Christian. She kept inviting me to church and I finally went along just to keep her happy. God profoundly spoke to me through the hymn that was being sung as I walked in and the message preached from John 10.
It took me some months to understand what it was to be a Christian but then I had such a great thirst for knowledge about Christianity and the Bible. I took twelve months leave to go to Kingsley wanting to learn and grow. During that time God called me to "preach the Gospel to the poor." So I stayed and completed my Theology degree.
I said to God that I would go anywhere in the world and He sent me to Woodridge. In His strength I pastored a pioneer church there for five years seeing him do amazing things in this Neighborhood Church. I have then pastored at South Gate (Qld) and had the privilege of serving as South Queensland District Evangelist.
I am thankful for the opportunity to assist the work and ministry in the Solomon Islands with the Akers and other Australian teachers.

Kay splits her time travelling across Australian churches to raise support and awareness of her ministry. And alternatively preparing material making papers and travelling and teaching in the Solomons.

Don & Cheri Floyd -
Field Maintainance/Bible School Administration

Location: Papua New Guinea

Don grew up in a Coffs Harbour, NSW.  Cheri’s childhood was spent in rural Tennessee, USA.  They each had a strong Christian upbringing and both began to follow Jesus in their early teens.  Previously unaware of each other’s existence, Don and Cheri met as mission volunteers in PNG in 1989.  Thus their intertwined love affair with God, Papua New Guinea and each other began.  In 1991 Don and Cheri married and began to serve the Wesleyan Church of PNG fulltime.

Don is a trained carpenter and builder.  Cheri has a degree in Biology.  Don has supported the PNG Wesleyan Church through involvement with building and maintenance and training men in these skills.  Cheri finds joy in health education and women’s ministries.  The three Floyd boys do Australian distance education lessons.  The Floyds have also worked in Bible College teaching and administration on the PNG mainland and in the Bougainville islands region.

Now more than ever, the Floyds find their ministry most powerful when they seek maximum involvement in PNG church congregations and communities whilst exercising minimal control.  Don and Cheri believe they serve God best when they support, encourage and submit to the leadership of their Papua New Guinean friends.

During 2009 the Floyds are travelling in USA to spread awareness of their ministry and raise prayer and financial support.

Sue Allport -
Volunteer Nurse

Location: Mozambique

In 2003 Sue Allport joined a short term ministry trip to Mozambique and South Africa. As she visited villages and spoke to Bible College students she was impacted by the need for education in health and hygiene in villages. As a nurse she had brief opportunities to teach some basic skills which were warmly received. So much so that the appeal "please come back and teach us more" stayed with her.

In 2004 Sue returned to Mozambique for a six week program of teaching Bible College students who would return to their villages. She also visited some of the villages where men and women gathered to learn more about how to keep their families healthy. Sue appreciates the many gifts that made this trip possible.

Sue has expressed the call of God to commit a longer term with Global Partners the International Arm of the Wesleyan Church. In Australia the National Board of Missions has approved her return to Mozambique in 2009 for a further year as a volunteer.

Sue has arrived back in Mozambique for 2009 after a busy year raising prayer and financial supporters in 2008.
